Hazardous Waste Disposal

 

Hazardous waste can be harmful to our health, wildlife, and waterways if not disposed of properly. Allen County’s Department of Environmental Management makes it their mission to Assist the community of Allen County in reducing its environmental footprint and facilitate best practices for reusing, recycling, and composting. The Household Hazardous Waste Facility is a place for Allen County residents to safely dispose of their toxic waste. The Hazardous Waste Facility is located at 2260 Carroll Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46818. At the waste facility, they work diligently to ensure that all waste is disposed of properly. The Household Waste facility accepts toxic waste such as automotive fluids, cooking oil, fertilizers, pool chemicals, etc. For a full list of all of the accepted items and costs click the link below.

Prior to taking your items to the waste facility consider the following options:

  • Reduce waste by only buying essential items
  • Purchase less toxic items
  • Share leftovers with others
  • Consider making other meals with leftovers
  • Identify hazardous waste items before purchasing
